6/5/2001 Prompted by the removal of worn out carpet, which was creating a tripping hazard, the restoration of the Main House Stairs replaced stair planks damaged by carpet installation and years of use with new hardwood. At the same time we replaced the wrought iron banister (which had become quite unstable over the years) with higher railing matching the refinished wooden stairs and landing. This project was capped off with a stunning stained inlay of the crest, which was finished into the landing, and sure to be a highlight of our beloved house for years to come.
